Subject Change Form - Agreement for 2022
I UNDERSTAND THAT I MAY ONLY MAKE 1 (ONE) SUBJECT CHANGE DECISION. DURING THAT DECISION I MAY CHOOSE TO CHANGE 1 OR 2 SUBJECTS. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE A 2ND SUBJECT CHANGE DECISION.
- If the change occurs at the end of term 1 your child will not have a first term mark for the new subject as they did not write the block test or do any of the tasks.
- It is your child’s responsibility to catch up all of the first term/years’ work by themselves.
- Tutorials are compulsory and must take precedence over sport or cultural until the relevant subject teacher is happy with your child’s level of understanding and performance in that subject.
- Should your child fail the new subject, the subject cannot be changed again as per the regulations set out by the Department of Education.
- Learners who fail a subject are the first to be attended to, if your child is passing well enough then it is under extenuating circumstances that the subject will be changed and that is only if there is available space in the relevant subject.
- All subject changes are updated with the Education Department so the National Subject Change policy is strictly adhered to by EHS.
- Your child’s registration class most probably will change and so will the teachers teaching the newly chosen subject/s as this change is subject to space availability in different keys and according to the timetable programme. This process cannot not be changed or altered, there will be no exceptions. Subject teachers cannot be chosen.
- Practical subjects may be picked up in Grade 10 and 11. Take note it involves a set SBA portfolio that extends the full 3 FET years. Grade 10 sets the basis of these subjects. The tempo in these subjects is fast. These subjects are Visual Arts, EGD, IT, CAT and Consumer Studies. This depends on marks in designated subjects such as Maths or Math Lit, level of academic performance, and is at the discretion of the respective teacher.
- You and your child must make sure that the subject/s been chosen still allows for University entrance and is in accordance to the programs offered at your chosen institutions and will not eliminate your child from any desired tertiary learning program. Please check with respective tertiary institution web sites.
